William, I think the interest rates would affect Valence's commercial plans only moderately. Once the product demand is generated, it will have great momentum. Regarding the down market today being able to lop a point off Valence, I don't think so. There's a large supply of stock in the mid-8 area that must be absorbed before assaulting the earlier high of 11 5/16. If, over the next several trading days, we can "eat" our way through that, then things will be rosy indeed. Of course with a large P.O. that area (and possibly 11) could easily be breached during halted trading.

I believe you meant higher bond prices, not yields?

William> CNBC has scheduled an interview with, I believe, the CEO of Delphi Automotive for 5:20 Eastern. This might have some acute interest to all VLNC stockholders given its close relationship in lipoly research. I for one hope that subject comes up.

William. Interesting. Speaking of this sort of thing, I believe I read one report that had VLNC as a weak hold, with an over-all earnings per share potential this year of ~3%. Next year was hazy. The interesting thing, however, was the total earnings(if memory serves) of VLNC's market sector was/is projected to grow by some 200%.

It would be nice to have VLNC be a part of this. Today is a major confirmation that they will be. By the way, the site whereby you can get this report(it's free but you've got to sign up), is: quicken.multexinvestor.com

Bottom Line? The news today was super, but stepping back with a jaundiced eye......well......VLNC's still bounded firmly to that bouncy bouncy range of approximately $6.75 on the low end, and $8.25 on the high.

But now let's see how summer unfolds...

John~

William:

A correlation of .65 suggests that one factor "may" be responsible for 42% of the variance in the other factor (.65 squared). Not quite as strong a relationship as you suggest since 58% of the variance is being explained by other factors. Doug

Bill,
The Valence battery technology has been validated by NASA
( Jet Propulsion Lab ) for its next Mars Mission. This is not
any major project, but it does confirm the technology is sound.

I would not place too much confidence in gold as a leading indicator of bond yields. A major reason for the downwards price performance in gold over the last several months is the fact that several central banks have announced they will be liquidating significant portions of their holdings of gold. The economy has changed enough over the past few years so that I would be very cautious of using statistical correlations based on historical trends.

And, oh yeah, the next time you chat with wee willie, ask him if he ever took mooter up on his wager.
