Sports Group International, Inc. Announces the Acquisition of Frullati Bakery & Cafe

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 1999--Sports Group International, Inc. (OTC BB:SPGK), today announced that through its recent infusion of $6.5 million, it has purchased the Frullati Bakery

Cafe company.

Frullati Bakery & Cafe operates ninety stores in the Midwest and Southern United States. Approximately fifty stores are franchised and forty are held corporately. There are currently fifteen stores under development. The stores are operated in regional malls, airports, medical buildings and health clubs, offering nutritious smoothies/juice drinks and baked goods.

Frullati Bakery & Cafe generated approximately $30 million in revenue system-wide in 1998.

Frullati is an Italian word for 'fruit drink.' Founded in 1985, the Frullati chain offers a healthy alternative to fast food with a wide variety of menu items including smoothies, garden salads, sandwiches, soups and baked goods. This purchase by Sports Group furthers the corporate goal of securing its place as a leader in the smoothie/juice bar industry.

The company hopes to be listed on NASDAQ by the end of the 3rd quarter or early 4th quarter 1999.

The addition of Frullati Bakery & Cafe combined with Surf City Squeeze stores brings the current number of smoothie/juice bar stores owned by Sports Group International, Inc to over 225 nation-wide. System-wide sales for Sports Group in 1999-2000 are expected to exceed $60 million.
