Let's start with origination. I have a device inside my PC which is a DFB laser pumping out a tight beam which takes an RF feed from my PC modulates the feed onto the beam. The beam follows the fiber path out to the loop where it's added and ported to the headend. Add just means dumped and ported just means the beam doesn't bang into an obstruction. Any problems yet?

Hmm. Frank - I am not sure I understand what the difficulty is?
I have just assumed that if SR did work, and went to the home, that it would use some LAN type of packet based protocol?
Or the traffic could get broken out on a relatively local subhead node.
There are lots of ways to do that. I was involved in these types of designs back in the 80's.
