I've been watching IBM on a daily basis for quite a few years now. When Gerstner was brought in, the stock did not pop much at all, in fact in continued lower during the very first part of his watch. Once he started making some moves the stock followed. Part of that was probably due to the fact that many at the time were looking for a leading 'technologist' to get the IBM job. Sculley from Apple and Bossidy of Allied Signal were two other names mentioned for the job at the time...

PS - As for the Dell meeting, I don't think Mikey will be putting up the stock chart and using his 'meeting closed' line this year <gggg>.
