Patrick - thks for the explain of BKX. Actually I do follow the bank index but use NF which is the NYSE financial index which I found to be a bit better than the S&P bank index BIX.

I watch ND (NYSE industrails that don't make DOW), NDX, INDU, xoi, RUT, NF, NNA (NYSE utilities index), and TRAN all on a 1 minute chart where I show only the INDU data, hide the rest, but show a weighted average scaled to screen. This gets round the scaling problem since these indexes range from about 500 to 11,000. It works very well for identifying global tops and bottoms, since all of the indexes tend to go through the same point at the top and bottoms then reverse. It works very well in Tradestation, don't know if it can be done in other softwar packages.
