One could assume Noam is explaining the China details
which may turn out to be the China Syndrome?

Don't mind me...just dart throwing, again.

INDUSTRY LEADERS TO ASSESS LINUX AND OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE AS SOLUTIONS FOR Enterprise Business

Burlington Coat Factory to Present their Story on Running the Company's
250 Retail Stores on Linux
John "maddog" Hall, Executive Director of Linux International, to Be
Featured

at a Luncheon Keynote Address

NEEDHAM, Mass., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Ziff-Davis (NYSE: ZD) today
announced that leading experts from the Linux and open source community
plus those from the business community will discuss the merits of open
source software as solutions in the enterprise at Open Source Forum.
The Open Source Forum will be held June 30 -- July 1, 1999 at Palmer
Auditorium in Austin, TX.

The event audience will include enterprise IT management, corporate
developers and application development managers from medium to large
businesses who may not presently be using open source software -- but
who need to understand the issues, evaluate the viability of open
source and develop strategies to support open source software within
their organizations.

The Forum will address the business and technical pros and cons of
Linux and the open source software model. An example includes Open
Source: When to Use it and When to Say No. Illuminata President,
Analyst and IT Advisor Jonathan Eunice will provide practical advice
and guidelines for when Open Source makes sense for enterprise
computing -- and when, on the other hand, IT departments should leave
it alone. Said Jonathan Eunice, "Free, open software is one of the
most vibrant areas in computing today. But unlike advocates, IT
managers aren't pursuing a labor of love, so they need to be pragmatic
in deciding when open source makes sense, and when they should leave it
the heck alone. We're trying to help companies figure out which
situations are which."

Mike Prince, Chief Information Officer at Burlington Coat Factory
Warehouse, Corp., the $1.8 billion Burlington, NJ -- based discounter,
recently decided to run his company's 250+ retail stores on Linux. It
is the largest Linux retail installation announced by a U.S. company.
Mike Prince will share his story and challenges in his session
entitled, Betting the Business on Open Source: Burlington Coat Factory.

"Deploying Intranet access to our 264 retail stores demanded a stable,
reliable, and economic platform," said Mike Prince. "We evaluated the
alternatives and found Linux to be the best choice by far. Our
experience during the roll out has verified that we made the right
decision."

Other sessions include:
-- Price Comparison: Open Source vs. Traditional Software with speakers
James Geisman, President, Marketshare, Inc. and Don Rosenberg, Business
Development, Stromian Technologies.
-- Making a Business Case for Open Source with speaker Chris Herrnberger,
President, Linux Studios.
-- Panel: How to Support Open Source in the Enterprise with moderator,
Nick Gall, VP & Director of Open Computing and Server Strategies, META
Group and panelists: Arthur Tyde, President, Linux Care; Daniel Frye,
Program Director, IBM; Christine Peterson, Executive Director of
Foresight Institute, and Darrin Sherrill, President of Multi-User
Solutions.
-- Special Luncheon Keynote Address: Linux: Ready for Prime Time? Is Linux
truly ready for rugged, robust enterprise-wide applications? Linux
International Executive Director Jon "maddog" Hall will present a no-
nonsense perspective on what Linux can -- and can't -- do for the
modern enterprise.

The slide started yesterday morning, and the meeting wasn't until 1pm.

This is just nervous profit taking imo.
