According to the CPA I use, margin interest is deductible as an investor.

Margin interest is deductible if you itemize deductions and to the extent that you can offset interest and dividends received. Any amount not used can be carried forward. Interest on credit cards is another matter. If the card is used only to buy stock I'd claim it, but would have a problem if the card is used for ordinary purchases also. Then the interest might be disallowed as consumer interest.

My high-priced accountant has listed me as an "investor" and deducted my margin interest rates. I hope he is right....but, will doublecheck. Thanks for the info. de
