Jim, bonds are 10% marginable at a yield of 5.85% (my entry). If you go on margin for stocks your actual margin interest is around 1% to 1.5% a year which by any accounts is minimal. If you short stocks or options there is no effect.

I think most broker can execute trade orders on bonds. the main problem is to have real time quotes which are general on a separate system. The 2016 to 2026 are even at better yield of over 6.14 to 6.16% but spreads are up to $6 per bond.
