Sorry to butt in . re: "acquisitions" If this happens the shares will probably take an initial hit -- remember, Wall Street is chronically myopic.

It depends on the acquisition. So a blanket statement like you made would not be the correct way to look at an acquisition by DELL.

Dell has amassed a huge cash position ($4 BB), and has broken with its past practice of aggressively repurchasing shares. Why?
Why indeed. Has not selling DELL puts been a significant factor in generating the cash position?

If Dell is starting to think that DELL is not the best place to invest DELL's cash, I wonder if we should start thinking that too. I guess then the question becomes who is the better investor- me & you or MD? He is a pretty sharp guy.

4 billion dollars is a lot of money. I assume they will be smart enough not to pull a Microsoft and start randomly buying pieces of many different things.
