Eric, an acquisition does not necessarily mean that Dell is not investing in Dell. It may simply provide a convenient method of entry into a business segment whereby Dell's business model may be extended with good effect. It may, for example, involve th purchase of a proprietary product or technology, which, when coupled with Dell's virtual integration, might provide a growth engine capable of fueling 40%+ growth.

Dell's focus has been very narrow, so I would doubt that the management would suddenly engage in random acquisitions. In fact, if the embark on such a policy I would expect it to be very narrowly focused.

What?? This past fiscal year DELL repurchased the equivalent of 25% of it's cash worth of it's own stock. That sounds to me like a pretty good vote of confidence. MLJ
