Who knows what you can buy over the net in 5-10 years, maybe a house, a jet, a baseball team?

Good point. When net commerce explodes, many people will be overwhelmed by the choice. Here is where big trusted names begin to display their true worth. I know when my browser pops the window and asks "Trust stuff from Microsoft?", I don't mind hitting the 'Yes' button to proceed with the download. Can't say I'd be so willing to accept stuff from a place I've never heard of. Doubt the general public will respond much different, creating a huge advantage for established names.

Hope this helps Microsoft. (Can't hurt!)

Cheers, PW.

pass pass: They have the client list, they have an excellent mechanism for selling over the internet. I just bought $105 worth of CD's versus CDNow because although CD now would sell it cheaper they didn't have the titles to sell/ship. I believe the key to their success will be selling higher and higher margin items over the net.I think CD's are a step above the books and pharmaceuticals will be a step above the CD's and so on. They have to find high margin downloadable or high margin per pound commodities to sell. I think the greatest new idea that they might capitalize on is the dutch auction of IPO's as part of the Hambricht initiative.

In time AMZN will find a bottom and it will be a great company in time. It took MSFT 12 years to get there and it will take AMZN at least half that amount of time but they are on their way. I too like you, not having gotten in from the start, will wait for a better buying opportunity.
