> Where were you all when Milosevic was beating the hell out of the Bosnians?? Probably I was goofing around SI or going after blondes... >Where have you all been while he's been spreading HIS form of Serbian freedom, democracy, and Serbian humanitarian "values" around Kosovo. HIS in bold!!!!Let's bomb some more bridges, water plants, schools and buses...maybe we can convince the Serbian people to overthrow him and put in power a better guy.....Wake up and smell the roses!! > Y'know, I don't have any problem with folks being anti-war.... what really disgusts me is their downright hypocrisy about who they protest against. Ron I think you equate me with those extreme leftists who always demonstrate against US causes...and never against other ones. This is actually the first anti-war demonstration I am thinking about attending because it has hit close to home and I absolutely think this is the WORST option available and if we don't make a stand now it will mean a much less safer world for my son and his children. I don't want a body like Nato violating international law and go just bomb a sovereign country in the name of humanity (we have to kill you in order to save you). As far as other wars, I supported the war against Iraq (and I abhore the continued sanctions and bombings killing innocent civilians and childrent there nearly 10 years after the end of that war). >For 50+ years, totalitarian gov't was being promoted around the world, the VERY ANTITHESIS of your stated goal of freedom, democracy, and humanitarian values. I certainly didn't see many of you protesting the violent overthrow of the Afghan gov't and genocide that was perpetrated by the Russians during the '80s. I don't give a damn about the Afghans...The Russians attacked a sovereign country and nobody had the balls to bomb them for that. YOu just watch now every country around the world trying to achieve the ultimate weapon, nukes...Nato wouldn't dare attack Yugoslavia if they had nukes Ron! > I'll have respect for anti-war movements when they show as much desire to rally against the cruelty and brutality perpetrated by non-democratic nations, as they currently display against the US. It's a cruel and brutal world, just take a drive in any inner city in America or go to a suburban school like Littleton...Naked aggression against a sovereign country is Wrong! Yugoslavia is defending its sovereignty...regardless of what spin you throw at it. > You're nothing more than lackies for the opposition, just like you were during the Vietnam war. I was born in 1967. This is the first anti-war demonstration I am thinking to attend. If I was alive then I would probably demonstrate for that too... > Sorry George, but unless you can tell me that you have participated in any non-US targeted anti-war demonstration, I can't have much respect for your apparent fervor. Ron, I am a simple hard working tax-paying family person here. I try to live my life well, instill some good values to my son and provide him of a good future, I respect all kinds of people and all religions because we are all humans and we must live together. But I abhor hypocrisy, bigotry, racism...and irresponsible actions that only create more suffering and destabilize our fragile world (Nato bombing in the name of saving lives)...I am making a stand...if it wasn't so close to my hometown I probably would not give a crap about it and just continue my life as always taking care of myself and my family as well as continue making my tax deductible contributions around December in order to help a cause and derive maximum tax benefits. About the non profit organization I belong to...it was an accident how I started working with them. I staightened out a horrible tax mess they were in and I just can't leave them hanging...They are good people but, I must admit, sometimes they could get too radical for my own taste and feel uncomfortable with them. Next week I am supposed to talk with ArtServeMichigan (http://www.ArtServeMichigan.org) for some volunteering opportunities. I feel more comfortable with them than the political organizations... FWIW Practical George
