George,

Like I said, I have no problem if people hold conscientious objection to war. Americans have a long tradition of isolationism and not wishing to get involved in European nationalist infighting. And personally, I'm not different. I abhor war. (But I abhor ignoring violence solely because we're too gutless or weak to respond to such violence with coercive means of our own. Appeasement only breeds more and greater aggression).

But for you to suddenly become motivated to speak out against the NATO action, without showing the least amount of compulsion to dedicate yourself to protesting against ANY aggressive action by ANY nation, then I suggest that you are displaying the same hypocrisy that you despise.

As for replacing Milosevic, we are setting the stage for just such an event. Let's not forget Montenegro's anti-Milosevic stance and relative neutrality during this war. They have become a haven for Serbian deserters while facing the possibility of the Serb army units in their province launching a coup against Djukanovic and his gov't.

Montenegro is a prime example that Serbs and Albanians can live together since there are already Albanians represented in the gov't and 6% of the people are Albanian. Montenegro is also the poorest province in Yugoslavia and stands to profit greatly from its ties to the west.

Here's something of interest I found doing a websearch:

The Montenegrin gov't remains the only viable alternative or opposition to Milosevic. There is simply no way that NATO will stand by and see a coup implemented by Belgrade. And once the peace implementation force is in place, I'm sure that Montenegro will make its political presence felt.

Regards,

Ron
