The "right" believe that anyone can get anything they want if they work hard & save

- The "left" believe that the "have-nots" can only get their fair share if the Gov't steps in, confiscates the property of people like Bill Gates (via taxes), and gives it to the poor

PMSW: In my version of right I see it as being the center. I believe the government should be as small as possible and should intrude as little as possible into the lives of the citizenry. The current trend in the US is to the contrary and although the Dems. are the worst practitioners and promoters of the "Big Brother" -we know better- style of governing the pols. on the other side of the aisle are guilty of liberal lite. The transnational aspects are not so mysterious. The liberals are always of the mindset that there is a superset of elitists that know best for all. I offer the now defunct Communist regimes as extreme examples. On the other hand there are countries who seem to crave the orderliness and concomitant economic restrictions inherent in a socialist form of government and therefore turn there lives over to the state in return for a sense of security. Oddly many of these countries boast the highest suicide rates as well as the lowest population growth rates. Some of these countries work a little better at socialism as they are somewhat ethnically homogeneous so there is a certain trust in the commonweal. In the long run, however, they are countries that have in my opinion neutered themselves.
