Jock,

You are way over the line. Stick to LSI and stop the personal attacks on posters. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, whether it is right or wrong, or consistent or not with yours.

Jock:

No it works somewhat like this. You throw a sack of sh*t in my direction then I throw a truckload back in your face.

To say that you are a BS artist it is a huge understatement.

- Go and reread my post to Patrick. I said LSI is just 'average' if they do 2.17 b and later I said I do not expect them to do it this year. Is this hyping? Is English too difficult for you to comprehend? Perhaps.

- Hell try this reasoning on for size (here is the Kindergarten version. I expect people to have some mental facility when reading my posts. But here are all the details.) The industry is growing at 15% this year. Storage Systems is growing at 30%. Corrigan in the 1998 Annual Report said: 'We believe the industry is entering another growth cycle and we expect to be able to grow our business at a rate EXCEEDING the average'.

Let's see LSI did 390 mil in Q3 and 90 mil of which was attributable to Symbios - 90 mil in about 52 day is a run-rate of 150 mil a quarter. And note this was after LSI acquired Symbios. Let's see Symbios did 300 mil in Q1 and Q2 before being acquired by LSI - again a 150 mil Q run-rate. And Corrigan said Dec. Q was strong. I say everything points to a Y run-rate of 600 million with 75% split between components and storage systems (in my post to Patrick you will see I used the same %ges - that should have given you a clue as to what segments - chips or not - I was talking about. But from all I've seen you can't reason yourself out of game of snakes-and-ladders.)

LSI has said that Systems is growing at a 30% clip. The analysts are raising their estimates for 1998 chip growth to 15%. The only thing that remains is how to figure out what LSI's standalone number in 1998 was. LSI admitted that biz deteriorated in Q3 - the way to verify this is to look for a long word in the financial statements. I say LSI core did something better than -8% in the core biz and something less than +0%. I feel safe assuming it was 1.25 bil. Again there is lots to point me to this number. At best it is off .05 bil on the high side. Again now do the math. You will come in at 2.17 billion. And now reread Corrigan's comments - EXCEED the average. So I was being conservative dimwit? Understand me when I said I said 'average'. Does average connote the industry average. You bet. Too thick skinned no make that thick brained to understand. I hate alligators.

- Or how about this. LSI's std. cell biz is growing at a 30% clip industry wise. LSI in 1998 did 1.2 b in std cells. A sizable chunk (say 60% conservative?) of Symbios Semis was likely std cells. Now use 30% instead of 15% for a good chunk of the normalized yearly revs and come up with an estimate. And I was hyping. Yeah right. Check the meaning of the word hype and while you're check the meaning of the word 'idiot' in a child's dictionary (I don't expect you to read books without pictures) - don't be surprised to see your mug right there.

- Guess what the industry R&D rate? Don't have a clue. Research it. I sure as hell won't tell you. Now understand that LSI does reasearch intensive designs and that LSI does customer specific research. MU and INTC have R&D low %ge budgets for a reason.

- Your 'valid' points were all addressed earlier. Again if understanding English is difficult try a remedial course or do the TOEFL. BTW 'valid' is laughable. You again show your inability to do even the most basic financial analysis. Don't quit your day job.

- And cut out the K lament. You are waiting for her to come back so that you can smack her with a dirty post about LSI's stock price recovering by August - you admitted as much. Certain types of people are attracted to certain professions. The jokes about lawyers speak volumes. You are someone I would not wish to have anything to do with and your stunts (and there are many), running from aggravating people to get the info you need, are revolting. Nice people just ask. Lawyer types and you in particular aggravate. 'I know nice people and you Sir are no nice person.'

- Your attempt to serve as a protector of the management of LSI is another one of your weak pathetic attempts to pick up a few points with LSI. Things like this are so transparent you make yourself look pathetic at best. Don't worry Diana may be reading your comments and may throw a bone in your direction.

- You say Storage Components is the segment doing well. Well interesting. In a Corrigan interview on 20 April 1999, of the Wichita Kansas Storage _______ (you fill in the blanks), he said it was 'doing very well actually'. And no the blank is not Storage Components. Again Metastor. Again EMC doing better than 30% growth. Do YOU understand the 2 storage segments? Get it idiot? One at an average of 15% (COMPONENTS) and one at an average of 30% (SYSTEMS).

- Try understanding the 2nd word in 'convertible debt'. That is DEBT.. DEBT.. DEBT... D E B T.. Get it? You still don't understand why this is 'quasi'. You still want to call this equity. Go right ahead.
Here are some hints. Think of the interest rate. Think of what happens if LSI goes bankrupt. Think of what rights the convertible holders have in shareholder meetings. Get it? While you're at it check LSI's financial statements and see where LSI lists this item - in the equity section or not. You say (hype) that you have 30+ years of experience. If your 30+ years of investing did not teach you the difference between DEBT and EQUITY then I feel sorry for you.

- Cease and desist the 'me and my family's money' line. What do you think I have in LSI - peanuts and sawdust? I recall you pulling the same grandiose line in the IOM line where you followed that up with 'this company and its fine products' (talking about IOM). This is not hype. Gimme a break.

- Before talking about hype, appreciate the meaning of something I said earlier. 'Luck is when opportunity meets preparation.' Get it? Try hard. Understand that and you will understand that the only hype here is your ability to boast about your 'investing experience'.

- Yeah sure the debacle in Asia was one month old. Here is the headline from the Jan 1998 SBN (and yes this too is after the debacle in Asia was one month old!): " '98 still looks good despite DRAM pricing, 'Asian flu'". The article expected 16% growth rate for 1998.
Get it? Try and understand the meaning of the word 'debacle' as it relates to the chip industry. Buy a dictionary if you have to.

To reiterate: a truckload.

The irony here is that I have to explain how I get these numbers and thereby show you more than I would like to. I have no interest in doing this. The irony is that by doing so you get me to waste my time explaining to a idiot what is really happening. I get nothing out of this. I am tempted to get lost again. If you can't understand English reread that earlier post where I asked you not to reply to my posts. Or maybe why don't I threaten you with one of your oft-repeated anal lines and say 'I will report you to the WebMistress'. Or better why don't you start a thread about 'LSI without Shane' - you did a thread with 'IOM without Rocky'. Like I said I can't stand certain people. You know maybe I will just start a thread 'LSI without Jock' - no that you will give you idiots a bigger head. And god things with an empty large vessel like yours there is no need for things to get uglier.

A truckload in your direction. Bon Appetit.
