They used to have the shortfall of slower design and production, but
they overcome these problem by investing heavily in CHINA. Pretty
soon their products will be much superior and inexpensive. The
competitive edge is so strong as to be able to cripple the companies
like INTC.

Scumbria,

IBM may have a fast technology. What they are lacking is a fast design to build on
that technology.


They do use the technology, and very well, in their G6 S390 machines.

In the more popular PC area, As you well know, IBM came out recently saying they didn't wish to go up against Intel again, when the question of their possibly buying Cyrix from NSM came up. It doesn't sound like they'll use copper to push their way into that market, at least no signs right now. Back to S390, AFAIK, the fastest CPU chip in one of those runs at 500 MHz. Of course, they may not be optimized for cycle time, since MIPS sell those machines, not Megahertz.
