Tony: I tried to confirm superdistribution by using my new, client-side, non-virtual WaveMeter to open the "digital shrinkwrap" on an .SMO stored locally on my C: drive. It did not work. The WaveMeter on the WinTV board recognized that the object was an .SMO but found it defective, or incompatible, or some word like that. I do not recall exactly, and I am not at my WaveEnabled machine for the time being. Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Interesting Forbes 5/31 Article...

Good article re: the increasingly brutal economics of being in the PC OEM game... plus a nice look-see at how ISPs are going to play the "Free PC" card.

We're are so wonderfully on the right side of this trend... it's almost scary. Almost.

Tony: addendum concerning existing .SMOs

I fully expect that the present, apparent incompatibility is merely transient. I believe that when the Wave system is launched in earnest -- not only on the client side (of which the Hauppauge-WaveEnabled device is the first example) but also on the web (of which MyPublish will be the real example), the WaveNet will be able to cross-walk an .SMO of any origin to the meter at hand.

Best wishes.
