In reference to discussions on Poplars...Ugly yes...but they also only have an expected life of about 20 years. Then what do you do with them?

In regards to Pine trees. How do you start seedlings? I found one growing in my flower bed next to his 100 year old dad. I have about 20 of those 100 year old pines around my property, none of which are spawning seedlings. What was the secret to this one little fellow? I assume it started from a cone which fell from the tree.

I kept him potted for 2 seasons with plenty of protection and water, and have just recently given him his own spot in the yard. Plenty of new growth and shoots. I think it will do well. I would like to know how to start more tho.

Cheers
Carole
