<<Actually I do believe a fetus
is not quite a human but also not just a bag of cells. I think it splits the difference. >>Well I guess this is the closest we will come. I respect life as well. It just seems to me that there is something more to life than a bag of cells. What is the definition of a human? Perhaps it is a spirit, soul, consciousness, self awareness, that makes a human being. Other than that we do have just a bag of cells with of course the potential to be a human. But we are still talking physiology here. A hart beat for sure but we all know that this is an organ that supplies blood to any mammal, nothing more. Is the recipient of an artificial hart any less human? I don't think so. << giving the utmost possible
deference to the potential the fetus has >>You see this potential as important. But after all this is just a matter of degree is it not? For sure the gleam in my eye that still occurs on occasion has the potential [remote that it may be ]to put in motion the process creating a human being. Ignoring it destroys that potential . Condoms ,the pill all birth control, just saying no destroys potential....as does abortion.... So what?... Why would unlimited tonnage of human beings be a good thing? ..... This can't be it. To create a human being or ....no.. What an intensely personal decision..... As a man I would say I can never understand what that decision would be like. Yet some would have the government make this decision.... It always seems strange to me that Republicans, self styled champions of freedom, wish it so.
