Off topic: You might be interested to knowA recent article in Discover magazine mentioned that a researcher almost on a lark discovered that human hair is a very good absorber of oil. Apparently the oil adheres to human hair. There was discussion in the article of applying this to oil cleanups.

Oil Spill cleanup :

Here is what i found. A technology is documented in a research report published November 2, 1995, by Dr. William W. Mohn of the Department of Microbiology, University of British Columbia, Canada. It is able to absorb 60 times its own weight in toxic liquid waste, giving it the highest absorbancy rate in the industry, almost 3 times higher than it's nearest competitor.
