Did my weekly CompUSA journey... actually this week I went above and beyond the call of duty and visited two Dallas-area CompUSA's. The first one, which I had not visited before, apparently had no TalkNPlay's on the shelf. The first employee I asked, after I searched the aisles myself, said he know of that product, and that it lived in Voice Recognition. But there were none there, nor were there any in Internet Software. So we ask another employee, and he's positive it's in Voice Recognition also; but it still isn't. The computer system says they still have eight copies in inventory (implying sales of TWO copies--twice what the other CompUSA's sold!!), but we still can't find any. We ask a third salesperson, and still can't find it. So my hypothesis is that they've yanked it from the shelves. In any case, it can't be purchased at that store despite showing 8 copies in inventory.

The other CompUSA store which I've been visiting for about a month changed the shelf display a bit. They removed the instant $10 rebate sign, and moved the TalkNPlays from the second-from-the-top shelf to the very bottom shelf. There are still the same nine copies there which I first saw a month ago; now their price is back to $29.95.

FWIW,
