James, forgive me if I missed your point. Where I am its getting late. There certainly is a practical limit to the computing power that one may ever need...whether in the home or office. PC's have, since their inception, been getting cheaper and more powerful every year. If the auto industry had accomplished the same thing with the auto, we would be buying cars today for a few thousand dollars...maybe even hundreds of dollars. So, cheap, powerful pc's aren't the issue. The issue is running a company and making a profit in the pc business.

The other issue today is how to get the price of bandwidth down so the average home can afford to use it. The realization of the internet's full capabilities will be dependent on cheap bandwidth...SDL, Cable, Satellite, etc. However, in order to process all the data transmitted over the internet, a person will need a fast pc/appliance, large memories and storage devices. If the pc's don't keep up with the speed of the internet, than the pc becomes the bottle neck, just as the internet is today.

Hope I made sense.
