I just remembered. Didn't Pat Robertson successfully command a hurricane to veer away from the East coast? Why doesn't God ever think of doing it?

I use the term personal relationship to differentiate from professional relationships. I have clients with whom I only have a professional relationship, and ones with whom I also have a personal relationship (which I define as talking about them in a broader context than their legal problem requires, and/or seeing them outside the office and relating on a level that has nothing to do with whatever brought them into my office). So I don't think personal relationship is a redundant term.

When a cop pulls you over for speeding you have a relationship with her, but I don't think it's unreasonable to differentiate between that relationship and one's relationship with a good friend.

I first encountered that oh-so-evocative phrase in college. "Personal Savior". Until some patient crewcut kid explained it to me, I figured it for some new brand of adult diaper.
