The cost of the modem and installation ($400) will be waived if I sign a three year deal with them. <gulp> Committing to anything for three years sends shivers down my spine. I even made my wife give me an early-out option. <g> -Robert

Lawrence, Moving along (after my little tongue in cheek last comment to you, here is the latest on WDC. They are in the midst of a quiet bloodbath with new COO Aref Shaikil wielding the sword. Three VPs have been axed along with a handful of director level positions with rumors of much more to come. (Maybe even, heaven forbid, Haggerty is going to be leaving). More on the rumor mill is that they will close Singapore altogether. To compound all, there is a renewed hot-n-heavy panting that Compaq is going to buy WDC (which I find senseless but note that a lot of mergers have seemed senseless to me). Other then the 1st round of executive firings all of the above are blatant rumors with appropriate levels of consumer warnings on the label. Best, Stitch
