Same here, although I must admit I have sometimes allowed the noise to bother me. Once (October 28, 1997) I even sold some SUNW as a result of all the noise, because I got cold feet. I later (after I had replaced the shares I sold) calculated that I would have been about $10,000 better off if I had held on. But you can't turn back time.

I think my average basis is around $20/sh with the shares I've bought recently, although I haven't run the calculation lately. I still have about 80% of the first shares I bought (on 10/25/90), at a basis of about $2/sh (I've deliberately sold and rebought some of those original shares over the years for tax planning reasons; not all of my investments have been winners <g>).

This company has been a _very_ good investment for me, even counting the recent drop. I was thrilled to meet Scott McNealy at the annual meeting last year, and hope to attend again this year; I think Sun management is superb (plot a 5-year graph of SUNW against MSFT if you disagree, e.g. techstocks.com ).

JMHO.
