John is asking some tough questions. There is no question that Jonas is a liability as a speaker. As I was listening to the call, I found myself doing something odd: hoping, praying, that he would not say the dreaded, "ya know" between EVERY OTHER WORD, and yet counting with neurons that were seemingly unconnected to that prayer, every single ya-know iteration. It got depressing after about 50, and I stopped. Love your ideas and your ideals Howard, but YOU NEED TO THINK SERIOUSLY ABOUT THE HANDICAP YOU'RE CREATING FOR IDT. I AM TELLING YOU, THIS IS A PROBLEM. If you're a tenth as great as I think you are, you will fix it.

I feel IDTC is like some weird drug that I can't quite wean myself from. I haven't sold a single share, and I've been buying on dips, sometimes rather compulsively, since April 98. We're about at my average price now, god forbid anyone is interested in such a stat. I truly wanna believe these guys are going places, and simply cannot bear to part with my shares, fearful of missing the long and steep ride northward that the damn company deserves. And never have I held them tighter when we briefly touched the mid-30s a week or two ago.

And who is the mousey-voiced dude, David something? He is an utter embarrassment to the company! The dude who asked about gross margins just killed me; David first called him incompetent, saying he didn't read the press release. When the dude challenged him, and pointed out with figures that gross margins really had slipped, he (metaphorically) slapped his forehead and said, "Oh, you mean GROSS margins! Uh, um, ya know, they were down, but they really were up . . . "

Or something like that!

Hello!

The best half a mil IDTC could spend would be on a goddam spokesman who is halfway articulate. Courter more or less fits the bill, but he doesn't have enough authority, or something. At least not on the ccs. There were FAR too many people involved. Krill couldn't even get on, because his PHONE WASN'T WORKING. Hello, this is an up-and-coming telecom company? Who is supposed to have little things like conference calls via telephone worked out in advance??

Howard, are you reading this?? WAKE UP. YOU NEED A PUBLIC SPOKESPERSON. PAY THEM WHATEVER IT TAKES. GET ONE, PREFERABLY THIS WEEK.

I listed to it 7 a.m. Japan time, and I almost poured myself a drink to get through it!
