mark--

you don't need to stand on your record. many of these stocks are held by small investors-- folks from main street, if you will. this democratic nature of these investors has thwarted some wheeler dealers like diller, for example, and has probably upset eastern establishment elitist wannabees who lack the noblesse oblige one would come to expect of individuals gifted with advantages of privilege many of us lack. we've all read bonfire of the vanities, and this board has its own sherman mccoy. a veritable master of the universe. maybe more than one.

but i do have one nagging question about some folks: if they're so successful, why bother with cmgi at all-- either long or short? if one had all kinds of advantages and privilege, and had made a lot of money, wouldn't one want to shift to preserving one's wealth by putting it in conservative investment vehicles? or a trust fund for the kiddies? or tax exempt income? or perhaps one does it for the thrill of the chase, a complusion if you will, unchecked by rational thought. or maybe one has inhaled all one's success? i don't understand risking wealth when you're wealthy. but then i'm not there, i'm just a petit bourgeois. only state schools for me. maybe i can pull the rope when the aristos go to the guillotine;o)
