On lawyers:

Gerry Spence claimed, in some book of his that I once read, that we have been indoctrinated to hate and mistrust lawyers so that we might be kept at a disadvantage.

The idea is that the only thing that ultimately has any chance of protecting one from a bad lawyer is a good lawyer, but that if we believe that they are all bad we will refuse to even try to find a good one and will therefore be alone at the mercy of the bad ones.

Interesting concept at least.

CB, there is much to say. Much more than is possible for a woman who just had a very odd night with a typically stupid male involved but ten more who were not typical (how odd is that?) making her feel better. D**m but there are some stupid asses in the world. Anyways, the point is, the point I'm trying to make, is that lawyers, the legal mind, the basis of law in relation to humans and to American history, is so... so what? What would we be without Jefferson? Heck, I can't say more right now and I have a date with a redneck gay and his four kids and their "uncle" tomorrow. Like you said, I don't f**king need this.

From News of the Weird-

* Two 15-year-old boys, on a break from volunteer duty in a
Winston-Salem, N.C., courthouse in March as part of a sentence
for vandalizing a telephone booth, were captured on surveillance
videotape urinating in a coffee pot used by lawyers, according to an
Associated Press report. The coffee pot was left plugged in all
night, creating a particularly pungent cooked-urine smell the next
morning. Said one lawyer who often uses the coffee room, "[The
boys] are going to have to get [someone] from out of state to
defend them on this one."

Anytime. I feel funny when I hear the lawyer jokes. I didn't like them before and afterward it was personal, not just a matter of not liking the jokes. It is difficult, as you said, to know how to respond. I do try to respond in some manner, though. There's a depth of emotion to the demonization of lawyers that I find baffling and repugnant.
