Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures owns 54% of High Speed Access, and Vulcan's Charter Communications cable unit has agreed to give the company rights to at least 750,000 homes passed. As you know Paul has accumulated a lot of cable companies. Phone companies are years behind cable companies when it comes to high speed access at a REASONABLE price. I've had cable modem for 2 years and I pay $34.95 a month and I can network all our computers without any speed degradation. Business customers pay anywheres from $79.95 a month to $1000 + a month depending on the amount of seats.

Allen's Charter Communications, one of the 10 largest cable operators in the country, has agreed to give High Speed exclusive access to at least 750,000 of its subscribers, with the agreement expanding up to a potential 5 MILLION more homes.

According to the prospectus, the company CURRENTLY has agreements or letters of intent with 34 cable operators, representing about 1.28 MILLION homes. In addition, the company signed a recent PARTNERSHIP with Road Runner, a venture between Time Warner and Media One.

High Speed equipment suppliers CISCO and COM21, agreed to purchase about $8.5 million in the company's stock at the offering price, minus the underwriter commission. And MICROSOFT, which has been very busy making investments in the cable arena, also agreed to purchase $10 million worth of shares.

HSAC also has these 'exclusive contracts' with rural cable operators.

If the Federal court ruling stands, this means HSAC will lose all exclusive access contracts, just like ATHM would have to.

To whom?

ISP's, like PRGY and AOL would move in on them.
