Don't we get charged something like 50 cents a month on our phone bill for each line for 800 number portability? I believe its something like that. At any rate, there can be a revenue stream for email portability as well. Email addresses stay the same, what could happen is like this - once your email is bounced by the original service, then an intermediate service takes over and translates the old address to the new address and then sends the email to the new address. The user could update the data base for this intermediate service using user id and password. This processing could be built into any email software package with little effort.
