Eric:

"Currently the biggest competition is your local dial-up ISP for $17.95/month and AOL for $22/month.

Eventually when enough value is created in broadband to entice the casual surfer the competion will be DSL priced in the same ballpark as cable."

We will have to agree to disagree on this one. There is already more than plenty value created in my eyes. Further, when I had cable net access, ALL my friends or customers who saw it - wanted it. That was even before they found out it cost almost the same as the crap they were using (AOL, etc). And that was over a year ago!

When you are paying $17.95 for an ISP or $22/ month for that "thing" PLUS a $20 extra phone line, having always on broadband WITHOUT having to have an extra phone line is CHEAP in just about anyones' eyes. On top of that, that is just a taste of what bundling is all about - one bill and one check.

I saved hours weekly with that high-speed connection when I had it. We won't even talk about the value of high-speed access to the ole on-line broker when speed of a trade was important. That was more than enough "value" for me to spend the extra $5 per month for my always on broadband.
