Mike,

>>Vision and Verse surprised me a lot. <<

If this horse would have won I would have been sick. It's not so much that I rated him above any of the obvious horses, I didn't. But I didn't think he was too far off horses like Lemon Drop Kid, Best of Luck and Stephen got Even and I rated him above some others. Yet he was something like 55-1. I came real close to putting a token wager on him. The thing that stopped me was the fact that he backed up in the stretch a few times and the pedigree looked suspect. He looks like a comer to me. Being from the Mott barn and lightly raced I think he's going to get better.

Big shame about Charismatic. As a fan I would have liked to have seen some more so he could find his place as a horse.

I rarely come away empty from a triple crown series, but I did this time. Rats!

Wayne

mike, i was in a meeting w/ some high up folks in my company. they
posted an estimate of product demand that looked like this:

99 00 01
40 60 65 (units)

then they posted our output as follows:

99 00 01
10 20 25 (units)

the multiplier (1000s, etc doesn't matter for this discussion).

i asked two questions.

1. what makes us believe that we are going to have a HUGE 80%+ drop
in unit demand two years out and, if this pans out as PLANNED, isn't
this a total disaster?

2. what makes us believe that we will be the company that supplies the
extra 5 and our very capable competitors will plan for and be
satisfied with 0% unit growth growth?

i didn't get an answer. worse yet, i don't think what i was saying
was even understood. it took me all of 2 seconds to see the impending disaster.

however, i have zero faith in these "estimates" anyway, so i'm playing
my job situation by ear. it just rattled me that such basic economic
concepts seem to fallen on deaf ears.
