To err is human. Everyone makes mistakes. It is a law of life. The question is what happens to you after you make a mistake. Behaviorism suggests that the best thing that can happen to you is that you not be rewarded for mistakes, but punishment does no good.
Similarly the best thing that can happen when you do something good for yourself is that you feel good about it. That's Hemingway on morality. The best thing that can happen when you do some good for society is that you are rewarded, or at least not punished. Athens experienced a decline in philosophy after killing Socrates.
Going wrong is certain in human life according to Murphy's law, sometimes written as "shit happens". Live with it!
