MileHigh,

How about:

GE - We bring good things to Life
Coke - The pause that refreshes
Microsoft - Where do you want to go today?
Wendy's - Where's the beef?
Pepsi - The neXt Generation
Apple Computer - Think Differently

Dave

p.s. Re: "What companies market directly to consumers even though they usually sell their products through a multiple distribution channel, i.e., not directly to consumer?" -- the difference between what we're talking about and the statement above is that a distribution channel rarely adds technical value to a product. The comparable image for Rambus to your question would be if Rambus wanted Joe Smith in Lincoln, Nebraska to buy standalone Rambus RIMMs and chips. They don't. They want the product designers to specify Rambus, not the consumers. If you don't own a PC with RIMM sockets inside, are you going to go buy some RIMMs? So Rambus' primary customer is the designers.
