Michelle reported that two weeks ago. Also they paint the whole side of city buses. So
much for the argument that Amazon can maintain sales with no advertising or marketing
or promotions or software development expenses.

Sarmad,

All the arguments are gone. Everything from no inventory to no need for brick and mortar expenses. The requirment for inventory also elimiates the being paid upfront argument. The original business plan is entirely gone.

Glenn

No. The argument is that it will never ever be cheaper to attract users that it is at present. It will only get more expensive. This critical concept is best described by the emminent Mary Meeker as "the Internet Land Grab."

It's too bad you didn't watch Charlie Rose. There was Jerry Yang, founder of Yahoo, which along with eBay has the most profitable model going. Charlie asked Jerry what he would have done differently. Jerry answered that, had he known how big the Internet opportunity is now becoming, he would have forsaken profitability "like Jeff" and been more aggressive in expanding his business.

Endorsements of Amazon's strategy don't come any higher than that.
