Company web page: diversa.com IPO filing: hoovers.com Diversa searches high and low to develop its DNA. In its quest for enzymes and biological compounds, Diversa collects and catalogs the DNA of organisms in diverse environments (from manure piles to industrial waste sites, from Antarctic valleys to tropical Costa Rica). Companies license these compounds to develop or improve their products, which include pesticides, detergents, oils, and pharmaceuticals. Diversa's first product is an enzyme for the oil and gas industry. Company partners include Novartis, Dow Chemical, Finnfeeds International, and a unit of what is now Aventis. Investment firms HealthCare Ventures and Patricof & Co. Ventures own 22% and 18% of Diversa, respectively. -G | ||||||||||||||
