I am starting this thread so that participants can expound on a pot pourri of subjects that have nothing to do with the market.

The only rule that you need to follow (other than complying with SI's terms and conditions, which I need to read one of these days) is NOT to talk about market related issues.

However, if you feel an irresistible compulsion to comment about the market, stocks, futures, options please be courteous and start your post with a header that states "off topic" so that we can ignore your post, if we so choose.
