Name changed to Intermec and ticker change to IN on 1/3/2006. Unova was originally spun-off from Western Atlas Incorporated. By splitting away from the oil-field business (WAI), Unova (UNA) focused on its precision grinding system used for semiconductor manufacturing and its strong industrial automation systems (barcodes, plus related automatic ID technologies including RFID). Unova has agreed to sell its Landis Grinding Systems operations and focus on the Intermec division. The company will be renamed Intermec on 1/1/2006. The new description of Intermec follows: UNOVA is a leader in global supply chain solutions and in the development, manufacture and integration of wired and wireless automated data collection, mobile computing systems, bar code printers, label media and Intellitag® RFID (radio frequency identification). The company's products and services are used by customers in many industries to improve productivity, quality and responsiveness of business operations, from supply chain management and enterprise resource planning to field sales and service. www.unova.com The emerging business within Intermec is licensing and royalties for RFID. The thread is moderated. Positive and negative comments are welcome, Yahoo-style bashing is not.
