Isleuth.com (OTC: SLEU) owns The Internet Sleuth search engine, which every industry review calls one of the most powerful search engines on the web. The New York Times and the Miami Herald recently wrote it up in a roundup of the top Internet search engines. It is always mentioned in the same breath as the biggies - Yahoo, Infoseek, Alta Vista, etc.
Considering that Disney just paid over $70 million for a 40% piece of Infoseek, this could be one of the next search engines that a big player looking to make a hit on the Net goes after. Their news releases point out that they are attempting to build a portal/gateway site, just like Disney and Infoseek are doing. With the Internet not even close to where the cable TV industry was in the 80's in terms of market penetration, and the tremendous growth potential just from increased usage as more homes get wired and more people use the Internet daily, gateway/portals with good search engines will become increasingly valuable. A location that offers one stop shopping, news, weather, email, financial info, etc., and coupled with a search engine that takes you where you want to go on the Internet, is where Internet newbies will head. And companies looking to participate in the Internet will themselves head towards companies like Isleuth.com that own great search engines.
This one looks like a great buy to me.
