Templeton, CA - February 24, 1999: Lucas Educational Systems, Inc. (OTC BB: LEDS) today announced that its compete subscription e-commerce website will be launched on May 1, 1999, in-line with the Company's previously announced schedule for the site's roll-out.
The Company reported that a demonstration site, which is located at www.jerrylucas.com, has generated a significant potential subscriber base to which LEDS will proactively market its commercial site. This active customer base is expected to enable the Company to rapidly generate subscription and product revenues.
The demonstration site allows customers to preview LEDS' unique learning systems online by showcasing the proprietary Lucas Learning System™ techniques in eight categories, including spelling, Spanish, early childhood development, and learning how to learn.
According to Company President and CEO Jerry Lucas, “The demonstration site has already generated significantly more traffic than our market research originally projected, indicating that both initial and long-term results from our subscription site should translate into a significant revenue stream.”
The complete subscription site, available for a $99 annual fee, will feature LEDS' library of 22 courses, books, and videos which enable anyone to learn, memorize, and retain information more thoroughly than traditional educational methods. The Company's educational products retail from $9.95 to $200.
Full-scale Marketing Campaign
The Company also announced that it will launch an aggressive marketing campaign to raise awareness of the Lucas Learning System and subscription website. Marketing efforts will focus on leveraging Lucas' celebrity endorsement as a former NBA star and renowned educational figure, Dr. Memory™.
This marketing strategy includes plans for Lucas to appear on national, regional, and local talk shows. He is also scheduled to begin appearances this spring on The Home Shopping Network, a USA company (NASDAQ: USAI), and will be featured during the first quarter of calendar 1999 on NBA Inside Stuff, an educational entertainment show on NBC.
Lucas will use the appearances as an opportunity to demonstrate the ease with which the proprietary educational system enables people of all ages to increase their ability to understand and retain information.
