VNTR - Ventro Corp.

This is the place to talk about Ventro Corp., formerly Chemdex (CMDX). Symbol CMDX became VNTR effective March 1, 2000.

From their web site:

Ventro Corporation is focused on building and operating the next generation of business-to-business (B2B) vertical marketplace companies. Ventro was created to leverage the significant assets originally developed by Chemdex in the life sciences market across multiple vertical marketplaces. Ventro is a publicly traded company that incorporates all of the existing operations of Chemdex and Promedix. Ventro will use the Chemdex stock symbol, CMDX, until March 1, 2000, when this symbol will be replaced by VNTR. Fueled by its speed, scalability, technology architecture and operational expertise, Ventro is poised to capitalize on high-potential vertical markets within the broader B2B e-commerce industry, forecasted by The Gartner Group to exceed $7.3 trillion globally by 2004. Ventro will create these marketplace companies through joint ventures with industry-leading partners or through acquisitions. Ventro's strategy is to target large, inefficient, fragmented markets that have significant revenue and product gross margin potential.

Ventro reflects a natural progression of the strategic vision first laid out by the founding management of Chemdex, which will now operate within Ventro. The Ventro companies currently include Chemdex, Promedix, Broadlane, and Industria Solutions, each with its own industry-specific management teams. SpecialtyMD.com, another recent acquisition, is now part of Ventro.

Ventro, whose unique name reflects unlimited opportunity in an exploding industry, is headquartered in Mountain View, Calif.
