BORLand had a great day today after unveiling their new InterClient
architecture. Written in Sun's (SUNW) Java, this hot product will
allow client/server apps to run on the WWW while connecting with
their InterBase DBMS.

This sort of forward thinking bodes very well for Borland who has
been sacked in the past. It's already a given that BORL is a steal
in the $15-$17 range its been trading at lately. After moving up
1 1/4 today, BORL may begin to show signs of breaking-out.

Here's the full text of today's article:

Borland Unveils InterClient Architecture For InterBase

Dow Jones News Services

SAN FRANCISCO -- Borland International Inc. (BORL) unveiled
its InterClient architecture for the InterBase
cross-platform SQL database server.

Written in Sun Microsystems Inc.'s (SUNW) Java programming
language, InterClient provides JDBC-compliant connectivity
software for InterBase, enabling state-of-the-art
client/server applications on corporate intranets and the
World Wide Web.

In a press release, Borland said InterClient enables
distributed transaction processing by both the Java client
and the database server, eliminates the need to install and
maintain platform-specific client database connection
libraries, eliminates maintenance of updating client
libraries and reduces overall Web server traffic on the
network.

Borland said InterBase enabled with InterClient is targeted
at corporate information services managers using Web
technology for information distribution and application
development. It is also targeted at the new crop of
Web-oriented value added resellers and consultants who are
creating custom Web sites and Web applications.

Pre-release versions of InterClient for Win95/NT and Solaris
will be available this summer for customer evaluation.

Borland International is a provider of products and services
targeted to software developers.
