The Great Canadian Stock Contest (Q3)

Here we go again... who ever said "fasten your seatbelts cause it's going to be a very bumpy ride" must have been talking about the Canadian mining and exploration markets since early March'97.

When someone says to me... "heh, I got a great tip on the next Bre-X" I don't have the same interest as a year ago.

As we enter the dog days of summer are we waiting for a summer rebound or continued doldrums?

Welcome to my contest. Thanks to you and our Sponsors this contest to grow. The entry deadline for the 3rd quarter contest is Tue July 1, 1997, at midnight MST. The contest is still free and anyone registered with SI can play.

The basic rules are still the same - you select five (5) stocks listed on one of the following exchanges:
TSE MSE VSE ASE

Do NOT select stocks trading for pennies. Any stock which has a closing price under $0.40 on June 30 will be assigned $0.40 value and compared to its actual closing prices thereafter.

Do NOT select stocks listed only on NASDAQ or other American exchanges
Do NOT select 4 symbol stocks listed only on Cdn OTC unlisted

NOTE: the stocks do NOT have to be mining related. In fact the biggest winners in last quarter's contest were the ones that avoided speculative exploration stocks.

SCORING:

Performance is based on the percentage gain from June 30, 1997 to Sept. 30, 1997 (based on closing prices). The average of your 5 pctg returns is applied to an imaginary $10,000 portfolio.

PRIZES: Will be posted later here on the thread.

If you or someone you know would like to donate towards prizes and/or administration
of the contest please contact myself at:
