I would like to see some discussion on DSGR, a packaging co. out of Hauppauge New Jersey. At the end of January they announce the results of their 1997 fiscal year. For that period, revenues rose nearly $6 million for a 15% top line increase and earnings rose $705 K for a 49% increase. Their sales for 1997 were $48.5 million buttonwoodadvisor.com They are currently trading with a market cap of $24.4 million and a little more than $4.50 / share which puts them with a P/E of 11.25. Normally, I would not associate quick growth (which would allow for a higher P/E) with a company in this industry, but these guys have showed strong, continuous growth in both revenues and earnings for the last 9 years (through acquisition of many smaller operations and increasing the profitability of current operations). In this time, they have also gone from the majority of their business coming from Music CDs to diversifying into other industries. Currently, consumer goods and video packaging account for approximately half of their revenues. Their current focus is on packaging for DVDs. Since these discs look exacftly like all other discs, they want to differentiate the product through packaging (they have identified this area as one of the key growth potentials in the coming years. discgraphics.com Currently, only one wall street analyst is waatching them and up until recently had them slated with a "strong buy" rating. quote.yahoo.com Yahoo is still showing this at the rating, but CnnFn claims that they were recently downgraded (although I can find no record of this). The only things I have found that I don't particularly like, are the complete lack of cash (although their ARs were $11.6 million as of 9/30/97 (this quarter's 10-Q has not come out yet), a marginally low current ratio and a marginally high debt to equity ratio. Most of this can be accounted for in the many acquisitions of this last year, but I hope that the lack of cash and high debt do not inhibit growth. I have taken a small stake in them recently and would like to hear some discussion on the company. Travis | ||||||||||||||
