Our commitment to provide quality products has evolved into a family of brands that appeals to a broad base of consumers. frozen yogurt, our flagship brand, is distributed and sold nationwide and in select international markets. The History of International Yogurt Co. International Yogurt Company was founded in 1976 by John N. Hanna, David J. Hanna and James S. Hanna (the Hanna Brothers) to manufacture and sell "The Yogurt Stand" mix, a soft serve frozen yogurt mix formulated to be dispensed by machines in restaurants. Frozen yogurt had first appeared in the U.S. market in early 1970, which led the Hanna Brothers to develop their product...a product they believed was superior in taste and texture to other commercially available brands of yogurt. Beginning in 1977, the Company franchised a chain of specialty restaurants, which sold this frozen yogurt and were called "The Yogurt Stand" or "The Healthy Deli." In 1982, the Hanna Brothers created a new frozen yogurt, . This innovative formula was lower in acidity and less tart than "The Yogurt Stand" mix. By 1984 the Hanna Brothers had developed a stabilized frozen hard-pack for the grocery store market. These events led to a shift in emphasis from franchising to selling directly to the public through retail stores and institutions. As a result, the franchises and Company owned stores were gradually phased out. By 1987, the Company was poised for a national roll out! Distribution and sales of expanded to supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, hospitals, school district food services, military installations, yogurt shops, fast food chains and other outlets throughout the nation. The Company's principal manufacturing facility is located in Portland, Oregon, which also houses the Company's Research and Development facility. yocream.com | ||||||||||||||
