Introduction Market Data Compact

What is going on with the oil drillers? They have been down for a while. SLB and HAL are two big ones that might be poised for a rebound. I'm thinking of investing (my first stock outside the famed technology sector). Also HAL is run by the former Sec of Defense Dick Cheney. Any comments?
