Genesis Direct Launches ProTeam.com Offering an Expansive and Substantive On-line Collection of Sports Merchandise - More Than 10,000 Products and Growing; Signs Agreement With Yahoo!

SECAUCUS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1998--Genesis Direct, Inc. (Nasdaq:GEND) today announced the launch of ProTeam.com(R), the on-line channel for Genesis Direct's all-encompassing 1-800-ProTeam(R) sports brand. In connection with the launch of ProTeam.com (www.proteam.com), Genesis Direct has signed an agreement with Yahoo! that will provide visitors to Yahoo!(R) Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com) and relevant sports pages within yahoo.com with one-click access to Genesis Direct's ProTeam.com.

Mr. David Sable, a founder of the Company and Chief Marketing Officer, commented, "The Internet has been a part of the Genesis Direct marketing strategy since the Company's inception three years ago. We believe the launch of ProTeam.com will provide the platform to enable us to further develop this critical segment of our business and capitalize on the explosive growth of on-line retailing."

Mr. Sable added, "We are confident that Genesis Direct has the infrastructure in place to handle the additional sales volume that our increased selling presence on the web is expected to generate. Importantly, the marketing philosophy and systems infrastructure that we have already established will enable us to serve our current and new customers seamlessly through the Internet. We have increased the resources devoted to this area, and have put the appropriate software, people and facilities in place to support these operations. These measures, coupled with our extensive experience with the 15 web-sites we already operate, will provide a solid foundation for the anticipated growth of this business over the next several years."

In conjunction with the launch of ProTeam.com, the Company also announced that it has signed an agreement with Yahoo! that will provide Genesis Direct with direct access to Yahoo!'s millions of users. Genesis Direct will initially leverage its dominant position in the sports category, and over the long- term, will utilize this operating model to offer other Genesis Direct brands, such as Kids and Entertainment, via the Internet.
