USI's customers sign multiyear contracts for Internet-based access to software from such companies as BroadVision (e-commerce), PeopleSoft (human resources), and Siebel Systems (customer service and sales force automation). The company provides implementation and support services, which helps customers save on both software and support costs. USI also offers hosting services for companies that want to run their own applications over secure Internet-based networks. Customers include Lattice Semiconductor, Lockheed Martin, and NIKE. Investment firm Grotech Capital owns 25% of USI. U S WEST also has a small stake in the company.
