No, this is not some vestige of the Cold War. Rather, today is a holiday, I have a few spare minutes, and it's about time somebody did this.

An oft seen question on SI boards runs something like this: "OK, I know how to italicize and boldface my text- but how in tarnation do I make something red?"

Well, here is a cyber corner dedicated to giving you the space to place posts from which you can create red highlighting. Here's how to do it:

(1) Type and post on this thread the message you want to eventually place on another thread with a red highlighted expression.
(2) Run a site search for the expression you want highlighted.
(3) From the results that the search engine returns, choose the post you made on this thread and click on it.
(4) You will now have your message pulled up before you with the search expression in red.
(5) Copy the URL from your browser window of the page containing the red highlighted expression.
(6) Finally, go to the thread on which you originally wanted to post your message and simply paste the copied URL- also provide a suitably cryptic message to entice your readers to click on the URL, and Voila, il est fini! (Or whatever that expression is.)
