Trouble booting laptop - too cold?!
An SI Board Since March 1999

I have an Olivetti Echos 133DM, which was manufactured by Chaplet, which has been pretty reliable. I recently left it in my car on a very cold day (15F). Now it will not boot at all. The screen never turns on when I hit the power switch.

The screen displays nothing - indeed it seems not to be
turned on. The status LCD shows that the computer is on - it shows the
plugged-in symbol and the power on symbol. It does not even seem to enter into the BIOS. Any ideas?

I let it warm up overnight in the hopes that it was just "frozen" - excuse
the pun. I also thought maybe the NiCd battery for the system clock went
dead, but it should still boot with the wrong date, right? Now I am
thinking the switch that tells the board that the screen is shut is stuck
somehow. Any advice you might have would be great.
